This week is Patient Participation Group (PPG) Awareness Week, promoting the role and benefits of PPGs to patients, the public and healthcare professionals.
What is a PPG?
Patient Participation Groups are groups of active volunteer patients working in partnership with the practice staff and GPs. This unique partnership between patient and their practices is essential to achieving high quality and responsive care and it is now a requirement that every GP practice in England have a PPG.
PPGs meet face to face or in some cases, virtual groups have been set up using email, online surveys and social media. They work in partnership with the practice to:
